Custom Passepartout with Multiple Apertures
Multiple images, one shared frame: Design your Passepartout with multiple apertures to match your motifs. Set the outer dimensions and determine the size and position of each aperture individually. This allows you to combine different image formats and arrange your images freely. Select the appropriate material and your desired color—you can add a backing board if needed.
Design Your Passepartout with Multiple Apertures Individually
Whether family photos, vacation memories, small art prints, or a related image series: A Passepartout with multiple apertures combines your motifs into a unified presentation. You determine the size and position of each opening individually. This allows you to combine different image formats as well as portrait and landscape orientations in one frame.
Set Outer Dimensions to Match Your Frame
First, enter the desired width and height of your Passepartout. If you already own a frame, use the glass format or insert format of the frame as your guide—not its outer dimensions. Plan sufficient space for all motifs, the distances between apertures, and the surrounding borders.
Add and Arrange Apertures Freely
Use "Add Aperture" to add additional image openings. Select the respective aperture and set its width, height, and position. The apertures can be the same size or have different dimensions. The preview shows you how your arrangement looks.
The border measurements left, right, top, and bottom describe the distance of the selected aperture to the respective outer edge of the Passepartout. They are not the same as the distance between two apertures. Therefore, also check how much space remains between your motifs. Further guidance can be found in our guide Passepartout margins and cutout positions.
Distinguish Between Image Size and Visible Aperture
The aperture dimension determines which area of your image will be visible. To ensure the image edges lie behind the Passepartout, the opening should be slightly smaller than the actual image format. Consider this for each motif individually. Pay particular attention with photos containing faces, text, or important details at the edges to ensure they remain in the visible area.
Match Material and Color to Your Motifs
Select the appropriate material and your desired color from the available Passepartout boards. A light, neutral tone can visually connect different motifs. With a colored Passepartout, you can pick up a common color from your images or deliberately create accents. A comparison of board qualities can be found in our guide Quality Differences in Passepartouts.
The material preview assists you in your selection. Since the on-screen display may differ from the actual color, we recommend ordering our free color charts in advance for precise color matching.
Review Configuration and Select Matching Additions
If needed, you can add a backing board and select a matching frame. Before ordering, check the outer dimensions as well as the size and position of all apertures. Also pay attention to the spacing between images and the effect of the outer borders. We produce your Passepartout to your individual custom configuration.
