Custom Acrylic glass
Order custom-cut acrylic glazing to match your picture frame. Choose between UV 90, anti-reflective, Optical HC, and Optium Museum Acrylic®—depending on the UV protection, anti-reflection, and surface properties you need. Enter your desired size and configure the right glazing for your artwork.
Custom-cut acrylic glazing for picture frames
With custom-cut acrylic glazing, you choose glazing that matches your picture size and your presentation requirements. Acrylic is lighter and more shatter-resistant than conventional picture glass, making it suitable for larger frames too. The configurator offers four versions, each with a 3.0 mm material thickness.
Enter the correct cut size
In the “Passepartout / sheet size” field, enter the desired width and height of your acrylic sheet. For framing, this format corresponds to the sheet size of the picture frame or the outside dimensions of the Passepartout. The outer frame size and the Passepartout window size are not relevant. Our guide Measuring Picture Frame Dimensions Correctly helps you determine the right size.
Which acrylic version is right for your picture?
UV protection, anti-reflection, and scratch resistance are different properties. Choose the option based on the requirements of your artwork, the hanging location, and handling.
| Version | UV protection | Surface and properties |
|---|---|---|
| Acrylic Glass UV 90 | 90 % | Clear, glossy surface for brilliant image reproduction; not anti-reflective. |
| Anti-reflective acrylic glass | 99,7 % | One-side matte surface to reduce distracting reflections. |
| PLEXIGLAS® Optical HC | Up to 99.7% | One-side hard-coated and especially scratch-resistant; clear and not anti-reflective. |
| Tru Vue Optium Museum Acrylic® | 99 % | Optically anti-reflective on both sides, anti-static, and especially scratch-resistant for demanding presentations. |
Consider anti-reflection and distance from the artwork
Matte anti-reflective acrylic diffuses light reflections, which can make glare appear less distracting. Image brilliance may be slightly reduced. As the distance between artwork and sheet increases, the motif may also appear less sharp. Keep this in mind especially with thicker Passepartouts or framing with a gap to the artwork.
Optium Museum Acrylic® reduces reflections with an optical coating and provides a clear view. More selection guidance is available in our guide Acrylic glass, float glass, or museum glass?
Choose the right glazing for sensitive works
For pastels, charcoal drawings, and other works with loose pigments, electrostatic charge on the glazing is especially important. UV 90, anti-reflective, and Optical HC acrylic can build up static charge. For such works, a suitable anti-static glazing such as Optium Museum Acrylic® is recommended.
Protective film, installation, and cleaning
Remove the protective films on both sides only immediately before inserting the sheet. With Optical HC, the hard-coated side should face outward. For cleaning, use clean, soft cloths and follow the care recommendations for the specific version. Even a scratch-resistant surface needs gentle handling.
Before ordering, check the cut size and material version, as well as your frame’s available rebate depth. The 3.0 mm sheet must fit together with the artwork, Passepartout, and backing board.
